Forged through iterations of original bands in Berlin, Germany, and The US since 2016 BetterDucks are an Indie Alt Rock band fronted by German born vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Dirk Externest. Dirk is backed by stalwart Philly area musicians Nick Voutsakis, lead guitar and backing vocals, Charlie Breuniger, bass and vocals, and James Evans on the drums and backing vocals. This is a musical exposé of the times, from the wide open to the intimate, with a bit of alt and vintage imagery.
Mark Evans Band’s 2018 debut release “Carousel” was critically acclaimed and led to their opening for international touring acts including Denny Laine and Micky Dolenz.
Spearheaded by Mark’s songwriting and vocals, MEB is driven by a rhythm section of Philly stalwarts Roy Fisher and Jeff Pancoast; with Grammy winner Pat Robinson on keys, Rob Brodie on lead guitar, and Bobby Michaels on sax. The band’s sound offers both a look back to a time when records were crafted with passionate abandon, and a look forward to what is still possible.
Mark started writing songs at an early age and has enjoyed success at every stop along the way. From his early days on the Philly scene, to his decades in NYC, and a “residency” in Nashville – he’s been a band member, solo artist, songwriter, producer, filmmaker and professional actor. He co-wrote the love ballad for the hit USA Films release “Never Again” starring Jeffrey Tambor and Jill Clayburgh. Most recently Mark was a finalist for 2020 Songwriter of the Year, awarded by Delaware Valley Hometown Heroes, 91.7 FM Wilmington.
